A critical statement reported on 26 October, set in the context of the DRC’s dialogue debate.

On 26 October 2026, Dépêche.cd reported Jean Thierry Monsenepwo’s reaction to the C64 meeting in Rome, attributing it to his X account. Using ironic references to the Vatican and Julius Caesar, he portrayed the opposition initiative as a failure. This was his political assessment; the imagery does not establish that any meeting with the pope took place.

The following day, Radio Okapi outlined the coalition’s proposals. It wanted to consult Félix Tshisekedi and Joseph Kabila in preparation for national dialogue. It opposed a third presidential term and postponement of the 2028 elections, while also condemning armed routes to power. Its proposals included better coordination of mediation efforts and protection for civilians.

Reading the reports together separates a presidential-camp response from the opposition’s stated objectives. A polemical phrase conveys a political position; it cannot, on its own, measure the outcome of a dialogue initiative. Equally, announcing an intention to consult political leaders does not establish that those meetings have already taken place.

The date used in this library is the publication date of the press report. The original X statement was not retrieved with a verifiable timestamp. This entry therefore documents a reported intervention, accompanied by context published the next day, without assigning a new date to the underlying statement.
