The facilitators present consultation findings to Félix Tshisekedi, according to the Presidency.
On 10 October 2026, the African Union facilitation panel briefed Félix Tshisekedi on consultations in Kinshasa. The Presidency published its report on 11 October. Engagements involved institutional representatives and civil society within the eastern DRC and Great Lakes peace process.
The account emphasises lasting peace and refers to planned subsequent travel. Those plans do not establish that every visit occurred. The briefing itself was neither a new peace agreement nor proof that hostilities had ceased.
A July AU document supplies institutional context. Following a Gaborone meeting, the panel outlined a July–December roadmap covering political analysis, security, humanitarian access, regional cooperation and civil-society participation, with coordination around the Washington and Doha processes.
A separate AU statement dated 9 October records consultations in Kigali on 6 October. Discussions included existing peace commitments, security and disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration. Hearing different interlocutors is part of mediation; it does not mean endorsing their positions.
Assessment should distinguish a meeting, its mandate, commitments discussed and subsequent action. Briefings inform the process, while concrete progress requires evidence beyond the number of diplomatic encounters.
This entry preserves a specific milestone and connects the Congolese account with AU documentation. Later updates should retain their own dates, separating consultations completed, steps announced and outcomes demonstrated.
